Hi, I'm currently building a Rat Rod in Sweden ... Bought a Fleet Line of 1948 that were shipped over to Sweden in 2005 under Catherine the storm. Then disappeared all the papers of the car, registration papers and more. I have bodynr: K 16360, but must have the papers of the car in order to get it out of the way. Hi, My name is John Hoenig and I'm posting this on behalf of my former advisor at Penn State, Dr. Gary Cross, who is writing a book on the development of car culture in the United States during the 20th century. We are looking to have some conversations with low rider enthusiasts about how they became interested in cars and how cars helped shape their lives and develop relationships. We have developed a website that describes some of the questions we are interested in asking - http://www.growingupwithcars.com/survey.html - and gives you an opportunity to answer those questions and submit them, but I'd also be happy to discuss these questions on this forum. Here are some of the questions we're particularly interested in discussing. This is a relatively long list of questions. If you'd only like to answer a few of them, that would be perfectly fine as well. For our purposes, the more specific and detailed an answer you can give (stories are a big plus), the better. We want to include as many of your voices in this project as possible.. 1) How old were you when you first became interested in cars? And who introduced you to your interest - a brother, dad, or friend? What was their interest in cars? 2) How did your driving and/or owning a car affect your relationships with your parents and other members of your family? 3) What kind of car did you drive in high school? Did you own it? If so, how did you pay for it? 4) What was your "dream car" in high school? Did you ever own it? 5) Did you work on your own car? Did you do any modifications to it? 6) What is your greatest memory of you and your car in high school? 7) While in high school did you hang out with others who shared your interest in cars? How would you describe these friends and how were they different from students you didn't hang out with? 8) Did you also participate in any school or community clubs or organized sports? Which ones? What was your favorite subject in high school? 9) Describe a typical night out for you in high school especially after you or your friends started driving? Where did you go? What did you do? Did it involve the opposite sex? 10) How did you feel about the police regarding your driving? 11) Did your interest in cars change as you became an adult? If so, how? 12) What year were you born? 13) Are you male or female? 14) Where did you grow up? 15) How far in school did you go? 16) What is or was your occupation?

Voltage Drop Testing is easy.

with almost any digital volt meter. and a printed copy of this test. you can start your electrical diagnosis with this voltage drop test. and if your batteries are in the trunk.. and your engine up front. either make a single long test lead.. or just a jumper cable laying on the floor under the car hooked to only one side at a time. http://i.imgur.com/WMDprhm.jpg and a linked copy to make it easier to print or save to your computer. you will want to print at least one copy for your tool box or wall. http://i.imgur.com/WMDprhm.jpg why perform this voltage drop test. with the engine running and the headlights on. it checks the electrical connections while the electrons are flowing thru the circuit. if you have a loose or dirty connection.. when the power is flowing it will be like a kinked hose. there will be a restriction. so there will be less pressure and flow at the end of the hose. since we are measuring both ends of the same hose while the hose is flowing.. you can measure the frictional resistance to the flow or the resistance to the electrons to flow thru the wire and connections.. why would there be 4/100ths or 2/100ths of a volt when you measure this.. because copper wire has some resistance to it. if you only get 0.04 or 0.02 volts. then you are in good shape.. if you get more.. then you need to narrow the places you measure at .. what.. yes. measure the fastener to the ring terminal.. the ring terminal to the strands of the wire crimped into the ring terminal.. and because i love low riders and many other cars.. here is an additional hint.. when you end up with a hard to crank issue.. perform the voltage drop tests while you are cranking the engine. you will get closer to 1.0 volts on some while cranking because of the draw of the starter.. hint.. you are out and somebody is trying to get their car started.. just for kicks.. break out the jumper cables.. but hook them both to a good spot on the engine.. and both of the other to the negative terminal of the battery in the same car.. this increases the current flow from the negative battery post to the engine block where it will get to the starter housing.. everybody thinks that only the positive is needed.. who needs that old ground wire.. the ground wire is the Negative side of the circuit.. and the side that has the electrons.. hope this helps... download the image while you are here.. it will save you sometime in the future..

After trying to get my buddy to part with his lowered s-10 with no success he has finnally agreed to sell it to me. He has informed me that it was lowered below legal limits. No airide or hydrolics. He told me I can add air bags to remedie this if i wish witch I do. I do not need un-needed tickets or fines. Q- From my reasearch it seems air bags are used to lower a vehicle. Does this mean that when I install them in replace of the shocks it is going to drop it lower. Do i need to restore the hight before adding the air bags or can I add the bags to raise the truck back up to legal limits when on the road. I have searced for this and appoligise if I missed the answer. I have wanted this truck for awhile now and am set on buying it from him. However If I have to reverse all that he has done to make it legal I will prolly back out of the Deal. can i use G body parts on my 81 grand prix

Ok so ive looked everywhere and it says the 81 grand prix is an A body but it looks exactly the same as the G body cars to me. I haven't been able to find anything about if the parts from G bodies are interchangeable.
