Chill Will’s 1964 Chevrolet Impala

Hollywood has always been known for its bright lights and movie premieres, but if you were fortunate enough to have been cruising during the late ’80-’90s you would remember it for a totally different reason. With Whittier Boulevard’s heyday steady in the rearview mirror, the infamous Sunset Boulevard was fast becoming the hot cruising spot in all of Los Angeles. We all agree that the 1964 Chevy Impala has long been considered the quintessential lowrider and each one of us remember when and where we saw our first. “For me, it was cruising down the Sunset Strip,” Chill Will, of the Devotions Car Club, says. And as many of you can relate, life would be forever changed.

After 13 years of military service and with duties of protecting his country complete, it would finally be his turn to fulfill his dream of building a 1964 Chevy Impala. Shortly after retiring to Las Vegas, the tedious task of a full frame restoration would begin. Longtime friend Mike Sakuma of Honolulu, Hawaii, would be responsible for a majority of the build and would begin by implementing a small-block 350 Chevy engine complete with chrome and billet accessories. He would then cut and sew the vehicle’s eye-catching two-toned Tropical Dream Green and Hampton Green Gator leather interior mimicking the original Impala patterns. With the 10-inch subwoofers, mids, and highs all wired to the custom Kenwood head unit, Mike would then turn his attention to completing a fully wrapped molded frame and preparing it for Brannon Kajitani of Xceed Auto Works who would then lace the exterior and undercarriage with the unique blend of Pearl Jasper Green found throughout the vehicle. The one and only DJ Wish, also of Honolulu, would go onto add the Velvet Leaf Green fine-line pinstriping and murals depicting the beautiful Downtown Honolulu skyline. V-Max of Ultimate Hydraulics would then plate and install all the chrome metalwork, along with polished trim and emblems, and would complete the project by installing the custom single-pump hardline setup that would include four switches and eight batteries.
