20 Classics to Cruise To

Lowriders were built to cruise low and slow and nothing compliments that vibe more than a good classic joint – and we’re talking joints of the musical variety, not herbal. But hey if you’re dedicated to being medicated than it’s not a bad thing to take a dose of both. But all joking aside, oldies just set the mood off right and create a sense of empowerment that puts you in touch with your soul.

For most of us in the lowriding scene, oldies will be our first love, and our last. Hearing certain tracks from the Stylistics or Blue Magic bring us back to a time when life was simpler, when life was on cruise control and when super stars actually had talent. In short, it was a time of purity when men and women actually courted each other, a time when conversations were sincere. Since then, conversation has been replaced with texting, beef is handled online and music nowadays is pretty much trash and a disposable product that is formulaic.
But who knows, maybe that’s why classic tracks can’t be replaced or emulated. The memories attached to this genre of music are priceless, and the lyrical content of these songs actually told stories about love, heartbreak and the struggles of life. In short, this music marked the end of an era.

While I could go on forever about this topic, I’ll just leave you with my top 20 picks for old classic jams. It’s an eclectic smorgasbord of tracks from some of the music industries finest so check ’em out and let us know what you think. You know…they say that music becomes the track of our lives so go over the list and see what memories it brings back. Some may make you cry, some may make you smile, but either way it’s good to reconnect with your past while strolling through memory lane.
